It’s only Easter 2017 but I like it…

I’m rather late with this post!

Blame my Easter bunny for that!

As I think I mentioned, we had family visiting for Easter which was lovely. We were very spoiled and had some nice meals together. One new addition to my Easter decorations was this lovely pussy willow.

It’s a slight variation on the old ‘Easter tree’ – when I was little you found a branch outside and stuck it in a pot of soil and hung handmade decorations on it. It only cost a few pounds from a florist up the road and I hung a selection of little ornaments I’ve collected over the years on it. We enjoyed it this year, but I’m not sure how long it’ll last next year with little fingers snatching at it!

I hope you all had a lovely relaxing time!

It is with a pair of bunny ears on I say:

It’s only vintage but I like it!

It’s only an Easter mantelpiece but I like it…

Continuing the tradition of decorating my mantelpiece for each season and event I invested in a few new pieces for this holiday.

My glowing bunny came from Notonthehighstreet and he’s pretty cute.

My carrot garland was from a seller Kaz on eBay.

My stained glass bunny was a present from my Mum and came from Jenny Newall it’s really lovely and I’d definitely recommend a look at this seller – I love a bit of handmade, as you know!

I finished the whole look off with a big jug of Spring flowers which always spells Easter to me! Hope you had a lovely Easter – mine was eclipsed a little by my wedding which fell a few days later, but we did squeeze in a roast chicken dinner with my sister and a few chocolate eggs! More on the wedding soon!

It is with a Sunny outlook I say:

It’s only vintage but I like it!

It’s only Easter but I like it…

It’s been a chilled day here today.

The Dr, my sister and I have an Easter routine.

It involves a roast, a musical and Easter nests. This year I roasted a chicken for the carnivores and I made a hot cross bun bread and butter pudding for dessert. Then we relaxed on the sofa with My Fair Lady and a bottle of prosecco.

Happy Easter!

It is with a full tummy I say:

It’s only Easter but I like it…

Just a quick post to wish you all a Happy and Vintage Easter!

Have fun and do whatever does it for you this Easter-tide. I shall be spending it with some of my closest family – not all of them sadly. I shall cook, eat, Watch a musical and eat too much chocolate. Then I’m off to Wales for a few days to see my Mum. More on that soon.

It is with a sense of culinary foreboding I say:

It’s only a Fish Dish but I like it…

Apparently it’s traditional to eat fish on Good Friday. I don’t know how I got to be 30-something and not know this but the Dr has put me straight and I intend to uphold it from now on.

It gives me an opportunity to make this amazing Jamie Oliver tray bake. It’s one of his 30 minute meals, so you can find the video online, but the basic recipe is here: http://www.mummyknows.com.au/2012/01/jamie-oliver-fish-tray-bake/

As is usual with Mr Oliver it’s a very easy ‘bish bash bosh’ recipe – throw it all in a tray and whack it in the oven. The flavours are incredible and the colours are pretty good too.

But the best part is the salsa verde. This sauce is so amazing. Really intense flavours. Seriously. You must make it.

It was all served up with a dish of new potatoes. Simple and perfect.

I had been looking forward to this meal for 2 weeks and it didn’t disappoint. Such good, tasty food to put into my body.

Wishing you all a Happy Easter!

It’s only Folksy but I like it…

As we approach Easter I though I’d do a quick round up of the delightful cards and gifts you can find on www.folksy.com.

As I’ve previously mentioned folksy is a website where craftspeople from the UK, can sell their wares. There’s some amazing stuff and it’s well worth supporting it!

As a Welsh girl I adore this screen printed card with daffodils on it from We Are Mountain.

This time of year always has me desiring a little silver bunny necklace – I may well have to give in and purchase this one from Jewellery FurKeeps – how cute!

i know it’s not all about food but well, it wouldn’t be Easter without a little indulgence would it? This handmade chocolate bar from Cocoa Tabby Handmade Chocolate looks flipping delish and I’m sure I could polish it off without any help from Dr P…

I have a few little people to buy for and these personalised bunnies from Cheeky Patch are very tempting. I love the choice of fabrics and contented faces.

I hope this has inspired you – remember to support small businesses and buy handmade where you can if you’re buying gifts this season.
